Meadow Brown, Red Admiral, Small Tortoiseshell, Small White
All 4 pictures above were taken at Stourhead Gardens in Wiltshire (National Trust). I found a Small Tortoiseshell on a small plant in the Plant Centre, so went looking for a plant in-situ in the gardens and was delighted to find several butterflies.
This is a very BIG bush so it's only for those with plenty of space and it also needs acid soil.
Plant Type: hardy, deciduous shrub
Flowers in August
Height: 2.5m (8ft)
Spread: 2.5m (8ft)
Needs moist ACID soil and partial shade
